Department of Computer Science and Engineering

— Will Lead the Highly Information-oriented Society of 21st Century —

The rapid development of information technology has produced various problems. The new abilities and viewpoints apart from those up to now are required by information engineers. Improvement of the educational environment based on new ideas is necessary in order to create a sound and highly information-oriented society in 21st century. To this end, the new Faculty of Engineering and Resource Science was established in April 1998. It includes the Department of Computer Science and Engineering which has three divisions as follows: Division of Computer Science for Human, Division of Applied Information Technology and Division of Mathematical Design. Each division aims at the following respectively: the creation of a highly information-oriented society where humans and computers interact together; effective utilization of highly information-oriented technology and facilitation of the intellectualization in various industries and social infrastructures; development of mathematical technology to solve various complex problems in engineering and other natural phenomena.
