Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

   Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a large and current field of study. It is developing very rapidly and it has great influence on our everyday life. Skills in this field are very valuable for everyday life and also in other fields of engineering.

   The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is composed of four divisions : 1) Electric Energy Engineering, 2) Photonic and Electronic Device Engineering, 3) Intelligent Information Communication Engineering, and 4) Control System Engineering. Fields of instruction and research in these Divisions are as follows :

1) Division of Electric Energy Engineering

   Studies in this Division are mainly on electromagnetic materials such as dielectrics and ceramics, development of sensors utilizing them, analysis of electric power system, electrical insulation, fuel cell and behavior of the elementary particle inside the atomic nucleus.

   The subjects offered by this Division include both basic and some of the most up-to-date technologies in electric energy. The fields of instruction and research cover experiments and simulation analyses.

2) Division of Photonic and Electronic Device Engineering

   Fields of instruction and research of this Division are mainly concerned with optoelectronics and ultra-high-frequency electronics containing electronic devices, liquid crystals and lasers.

   The main educational subjects offered are on electronic materials, semiconductors, development of electronic devices and electronic circuits. The fields of instruction and research of this Division also include solid-state plasmas, and millimeter wave and submillimeter wave devices.

3) Division of Intelligent Information Communication Engineering

   The main subjects of this Division are on the effective data conversion techniques of acoustic and graphic information, intelligent extraction of information from noise, and transmission and traffic of information. Fields of instruction and research in the Division also cover intelligent information processing systems, communication systems such as optical communications, satellite communications and the internet, and medical engineering systems utilizing ultrasonic electronics, and medical electronics.

4) Division of Control System Engineering

   The main educational subjects offered in this Division cover both the fundamentals of electric systems and practical systems utilizing control system engineering and electronics. Fields of instruction and research include electrical machinery and the associated electronics, electro-magnetic field analysis of electric machinery, information and its process engineering utilizing computers, application of micro-processors, various current application of controlled electromechanical devices.
